Punters who backed sentimental favourite Zipping in Saturday’s Australian Cup with online bookmaker sportsbet have received their money back after he was scratched a day before final nominations were accepted.
Generally, punters betting in “all in” markets lose their wager if their horse does not make the final field, meaning those who backed Zipping with any other betting outlet have lost their cash.

Australian bookmaker Sportsbet has refunded all bets on Dustin Johnson to win the 2010 US PGA Championship after he received an unlucky 2-stroke penalty on the final hole which cost him a place in the playoff.
“Johnson was very stiff and we think it’s only fair we refund punters who otherwise would also have been stiffed out of their cash,” said Sportsbet’s Haydn Lane.
