Two time Stradbroke Handicap winner Black Piranha is challenging Beaded for favouritism in Saturday’s race after the latter drew badly in barrier 17.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters had switched attention to the Con Karakatsanis trained veteran.
“There was a move for Black Piranha yesterday with him backed in from $7.00 to $6.00 but that has intensified since the final field market went up today and he’s now into $5.50,” said Sullivan.
“Some strong pre-post betting has Beaded still a $5.00 favourite but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them swap in the next day or so.
“Black Piranha has the score on the board and he’s proved before that Eagle Farm suits him perfectly.
One time Stradbroke favourite Sincero has firmed from $9.50 to $9.00 after drawing well in barrier 4.

Doomben 10,000 winner Beaded has been heavily backed again for the Stradbroke at Sportingbet Australia following disappointing performances from other contenders at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Beaded had been heavily backed for the Stradbroke before the win in the 10,000 but punters had come for her again and she was now a clear favourite at $5.00.
“We took a series of big bets at $15 and $13 before her win in the 10,000 and punters have come again this week at $6.00,” Sullivan said.
“We took a bet of $20,000 to $4000 this morning as well as a number of other bets and she will run a clear favourite in the Stradbroke now.
“She is clearly our worst result for the Stradbroke at the moment and I have no doubt punters will keep coming for her even now she is into $5.00.”
Love Conquers All and Black Piranha are on the second line of betting at $6.50 ahead of local Woorim at $8.00 and former favourite Sincero at $9.50.
“There has been some money around for Love Conquers All and Woorim as well but punters think Beaded is clearly the one to beat,” Sullivan said.

The Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) headlines a cracking day of racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Last year’s race was won by Black Piranha while Ortensia, a $12 chance this year ran third. After adding the Doomben 10,000 to the three Group Ones they accumulated at the Sydney Easter Carnival the fairer sex are poised to continue their hot streak in Saturday’s Stradbroke Handicap.
Ultra consistent filly Melito ($6) ticks all the boxes, she has performed to the required level at her last four starts in Group One weight for age company, she is carrying 3.5kg under weight for age and is drawn to get the run of the race. Graceful Anna ($12) found the line well in last week’s BTC Cup and with the services of big race jockey Glen Boss from an inside alley she has to be included.
Despite drawing the car park Group One winning mare Ortensia ($12) will appreciate the bigger Eagle Farm circuit, the return of regular rider Craig Williams and the expected good tempo.
The Group One T.J.Smith for two year olds over 1600m is one of many interesting support races. Hopefully talented filly Ringa Ringa Rosie ($3.60) finds conditions to suit her here. She has been looking for extra distance, a big track and firm footing, all of which she will find on Saturday.
