It is the younger to middle-aged players that are letting the team down, they need to step it up to give North a chance.

The Swans got blown away in the second half by the Hawks, losing their 3rd straight at the SCG, I expect them to bounce back this week against North Melbourne. McGlynn has been consistent up forward but needs a bit more help on the scoreboard.

Fremantle V St Kilda Saturday at Patersons Stadium

The Dockers got their second win at AAMI Stadium this year last week and will head back home full of confidence. The loss of Aaron Sandilands for 4 weeks is a huge blow but I predict them to be able to cover him.

The Saints kept their small finals hopes alive with a victory over the Demons. The return to form of Reiwoldt, Goddard, Milne & Montagna will make saints fans happy but I am not sure they will have enough just quite yet to get over the Dockers in Perth.

Gold Coast V Geelong Saturday night at Metricon Stadium

This will be a cracker of a match for the first 10 minutes while the Cats try to get at Gary Ablett in their first match against the former Cats superstar. From that point onward expect it to be all Geelong, don’t be surprised if this one is over 100 points.

Geelong may take the chance to rest older bodies such as Ottens & Milburn but will welcome back captain Cameron Ling to stop Ablett.

The Tigers were super impressive last week against the Bombers and look a legitimate Finals hope this year. King & Nahas are proving to be a big help to Reiwoldt up forward while Cotchin & DeLedio continue their stellar seasons.

The Power on the other hand are in as big a trouble as any side I can think of in recent history. The way they are playing I am not sure they will win another game this season. The team needs a real shake up at the end of the year.

The Crows were too good for Collingwood for 3 quarters last week, but were run over in the last quarter. A very good sign for the Crows were the performances of Tippet, Thompson, Rutten and young gun Rory Sloane. Don’t expect a last quarter fade out this week.

Captain Jonathan Brown lead the Lions to their first win of the season last week with a return game 4 goal haul. Ash McGrath may return this week but stars Rockliff & Drummond are still 2 and 4 weeks away respectively. Brisbane will put up a brave fight but won’t be able to get their second win just yet.

Collingwood V West Coast Sunday at the MCG

The Pies were given a real scare last week against Adelaide and were saved by one of the best last quarters ever seen got them the points against Adelaide. Swan has not been in the form everyone expects from him of late, this could be a big game for him.

The Eagles were the hottest team in the AFL last week, smashing the Bulldogs by 123 points. Josh Kennedy was brilliant with 10 goals but I also really liked the games of Luke Shuey & Marc LeCras. I don’t think the Pies will have it all their own way but will get the points.

Western Bulldogs V Hawthorn Sunday afternoon at Etihad Stadium

What Western Bulldogs side will run out on the park this week? The one that is capable of beating any team in the comp or the one that got demolished last week. Expect changes to be made with Barry Hall to be the biggest inclusion.

Unfortunately for the Dogs they come up against a in form Hawks side. Buddy was brilliant again last week, Mitchell was his normal self but more importantly for the Hawks their captain Luke Hodge looks to be getting close to getting back to his best. This may be a shootout between Franklin & Hall and if Buddy can kick a little straighter than he has been he should be able to get the Hawks over the line.

Black Caviar has been posted as a $1.55 favourite with Rocket Man a distinct outsider at $2.45 despite showing similar dominance to the undefeated mare in his win in the Group 1 KrisFlyer Sprint in Singapore on Sunday.

The Dockers coming off a loss in the WA Derby and Adam McPhee added to their ever growing injury list look to get their second win in Adelaide this season after knocking off the Crows in Round 3. Mundy, Pavlich & Sandilands will dominate the Power and lead Fremantle to their fifth win of the season.

Brisbane V North Melbourne Saturday night at the Gabba

The win less Lions expect to be bolstered by the return of skipper Jonathan Brown since his sickening facial injury in round one. Good in the first half against Essendon last week but another second half fade out hurt the Lions last week.

The Kangaroos got their second win of the season last week with a big come from behind win against Melbourne. Boomer Harvey is in scintillating form and young Ruckman Todd Goldstein is stepping up and having a huge year. I’m tipping the Roo’s to scrape over the line against the bottom of the table Lions.

The Tigers were disappointing against the dogs last week after winning 3 in a row. Jack Reiwoldt is yet to put together a big game this year and the bright lights of “Dream Time at the G” may be his time to kick a big bag.

The Bombers will be without captain Jobe Watson to injury and midfielder Heath Hocking due to suspension and look to welcome back Brent Stanton after missing last week. Will the bombers have enough depth to cover in the midfield will be the thing that decides this match. My prediction is Richmond can pull off the upset here.

Collingwood V Adelaide Sunday at Etihad Stadium

Coming off their first loss since Round 22 2010 Collingwood will not allow the Crows a sniff in this game and will dominate from the first bounce. Alan Toovey will go out of the side after the sickening clash last week with Tom Hawkins, the pies could welcome back captain Nick Maxwell & premiership player Dane Beams to the mix.

Adelaide had a relatively easy win against the Gold Coast last Saturday and will look to include Taylor Walker after one week in the SANFL. The Crows though I don’t think will have the skills or experience to match it with Collingwood.

Sydney V Hawthorn Sunday at the SCG

Sydney had a big win against the Power last week and look to continue their dominance against Hawthorn in Sydney, having not lost since 2003. Trent Dennis Lane could come into the side after booting 7 goals last week in the 2′s.

The Hawks were struck down with injuries to Stephen Gilham and David Hale last week but still managed to come back against the Saints after being 5 goals down at half time. Buddy Franklin could be the most dangerous player in the AFL after showing last week he can not only play forward and midfield but can also do a little ruck work when required. If the Hawks can stop Shane Mumford in the ruck with the likely combination of Renouf & Roughead they should be able to outrun the Swans.

West Coast V Western Bulldogs Sunday at Patersons Stadium

A big win last week for the Eagles over Fremantle without Embley & Kerr will see them heading into this match as favourites. The above 2 should be OK to play this week leaving John Worsfold with a selection dilemma.

The Dogs put a stop to their losing streak with a comfortable win against Richmond on Sunday. The loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium earlier this year will still be hurting but I am not sure the Dogs are in good enough form yet to travel across the country to get the W.

Hay List heads the rest of the field at $5.50, from Melito at $21 and Buffering at $26.

The Lions were stunned by the young Suns last week in the first ever Q Clash. Expect Merret to start at full back this week after last weeks experiment at full forward did not pay off. The Bombers struggled last week but stood up when it counted. Jobe Watson is in superb form leading from the front, expect another big game from him to lead the Bombers to an easy win.

The Power’s season went from bad to worse with a home loss to the Hawks allowing them to kick 8 of the last 9 goals of the match to run out 32 point winners. Exciting midfielder David Rodan injured his knee yet again and will be missed as the Powers quickest midfielder.

This shapes up as the Saints last chance to get their season on track. They will miss Leigh Montagna through suspension though putting more pressure on Dal Santo, Goddard & Reiwoldt to stand up and take over.

The Hawks were a bit flat against Port Adelaide last week but finally got over the line with a 5 goal to 1 last term. They will welcome back star Cyril Rioli for the match and look to another best on ground performance from Sam Mitchell to get them over the line.

Western Bulldogs V Richmond Sunday at Etihad Stadium

The Dogs will look to welcome back Barry Hall & Shaun Higgins to try and end their losing streak at 3. Sitting outside the 8 in unfamiliar to the dogs in the past 4 years, expect them to come out firing.

The Tigers on the other hand are looking to break into the eight, sitting just outside on percentage. Last week they showed just how much they have improved with a great victory against Fremantle. This for me could turn into a shootout and be the most entertaining game of the round.

Both teams will come out aggressive and hard hitting as they always do for the derby. With both teams coming off losses in Melbourne last week this promises to be a great match.

The battle in the ruck is one to look at with Sandilands taking on Cox & Natinui in what could determine the outcome. The Dockers go in slight favourite’s and I am sticking with them to get over the line in this one. Expect fireworks!!!

Last year’s race was won by Black Piranha while Ortensia, a $12 chance this year ran third. After adding the Doomben 10,000 to the three Group Ones they accumulated at the Sydney Easter Carnival the fairer sex are poised to continue their hot streak in Saturday’s Stradbroke Handicap.

Ultra consistent filly Melito ($6) ticks all the boxes, she has performed to the required level at her last four starts in Group One weight for age company, she is carrying 3.5kg under weight for age and is drawn to get the run of the race. Graceful Anna ($12) found the line well in last week’s BTC Cup and with the services of big race jockey Glen Boss from an inside alley she has to be included.

Despite drawing the car park Group One winning mare Ortensia ($12) will appreciate the bigger Eagle Farm circuit, the return of regular rider Craig Williams and the expected good tempo.

The Group One T.J.Smith for two year olds over 1600m is one of many interesting support races. Hopefully talented filly Ringa Ringa Rosie ($3.60) finds conditions to suit her here. She has been looking for extra distance, a big track and firm footing, all of which she will find on Saturday.
