With all the new coaching opportunities opening up in the last few months it has started up a few new AFL betting markets, who is coaching where in 2012?. See our article here for a wrap up of this highly popular market

Bulldogs’ favourite son Leon Cameron is the clear favourite with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to be the next senior coach of the Western Bulldogs.
Cameron is priced at just $2.50, ahead of Collingwood’s Mick Malthouse at $6.00, with Dean Laidley and Paul Williams next in the market at $8.00 each.
“From all reports Leon Cameron has impressed in assistant coaching stints at both the Bulldogs and Hawks and is a senior coach in waiting,” sportsbet’s Haydn Lane said.
“While Cameron seems the obvious choice, there’s certainly something romantic about Mick Malthouse heading back to the Whitten Oval and there’s no doubt he’ll be high on the Bulldogs’ wish list.”

Eade’s departure has caused a shake up of the Melbourne and Adelaide next coach betting markets, so much so that Eade is now the outright favourite to lead the Demons in 2012.
Eade is priced at $3.00 to be the next senior coach of the Dees, and is the $3.50 second favourite behind caretaker coach Mark Bickley at $2.50 to lead the Crows next year.
“We don’t believe ‘Rocket’ will be lost to football and now that he’s officially free next year he’s our clear favourite to take the reins at the Dees,” Lane said.
“Mark Bickley has made a good fist of his caretaker role so far but Eade will now have to come under serious consideration for the Crows role too.”

All the tipsters have predicted the margin to be under 20 points.

This week I like the look of Celebrity tipper Robert Walls. He has predicted a big 50 point win to the Hawks and a modert 30 point win top the Pies.

See all of Round 14 Celeb Footy Tips and Margins including Robert Walls who has been in the media alot this week

Round 14′s expert/celebrity footy tips are very similar with the only differences being Caroline Wilson and Tony Leonard both tipping Essendon and Port Adelaide to beat the Hawks and North Melbourne.

This weeks expert prediction I like most is Robert Walls. He has tipped a few blow outs with Geelong, Carlton and Collingwood to win by over 40 points.

The tippers that picked the Hawks to win on Friday night have averaged a 10 point margin. Sportsbet have a free competition running that if you pick the winnign team and margin you get $500! See more info on the Friday $500 comp here.

The Mavericks will look to win their first NBA Championship in franchise history on Monday morning at 10am AEST.

The Mavericks will look to win their first NBA Championship in franchise history on Monday morning at 10am AEST.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 29 points, driving for the go-ahead dunk with 2:45 remaining, and the Mavericks beat the Heat 112-103 on Friday to take a 3-2 lead in the NBA finals.

LeBron James, who called this game “now or never,” responded from his worst playoff performance with a triple double finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Dwyane Wade battled through a sore left hip after a first-quarter collision to finish with 23 points.

Jason Terry scored 21 points and J.J. Barea had 17 for the Mavs, but it was their 3 point shooting that got them over the line shooting 13 of 19 from downtown at 68%.

The Mavs will need to keep their hot shooting in Miami if they want to close out the series and win the Larry O”Brien trophy. Game 6 and Game 7 (if req) will both be played in Miami. This should not worry the Mavs too much after a 2 point come from behind victory back in Game 2.

My prediction is that Miami will force a Game 7. The Heat find themselves in the same situation as the Lakers did last year, returning home with their back against the wall down 2-3 needing to win both games to win the Championship.

LeBron returned to form in Game 5 with a triple double but still didn’t shoot the ball that well. For te Heat to win they need James to make some big plays down the stretch, Dwayne Wade to continue his stellar series, Chris Bosh to step it up to another level and Mario Chalmers to continue his sharp shooting off the bench.

The Mavs will carry all the momentum into Game 6 but will they be able to cope with the pressure of closing it out on the Heats home floor for their first even NBA title. Dirk will need to be huge and will need great support from Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion & Jason Terry.

One thing is for sure is that this is going to be a cracker of a match, do yourself a favor Monday morning and sit down and watch it.

Odds: Miami 1.40 Dallas 3.05

My best bet if your looking to have a punt on this game is the Miami Heat to win by over 11 points which is paying 2.90 at Sportsbet where they give you a $200 free bet bundle just for signing up. See more info here.

A few other bets that caught my eye and might be worth a look at were:

Mavericks up at the half/ Miami win the game which you can get $6.00 for at Sportsbet

Dirk to score more than 27 points at $1.85

Dwayne Wade to score over 18 points which is paying $1.72

LeBron James to have 7 or more assists at $1.75

The last score of the first half to be a 3 point field goal which is paying a decent $4.50

We saw another nail biter in Game 4 of the 2011 NBA Finals, this time Dallas getting over the line by 3 points to square the series at 2 games [...]

We saw another nail biter in Game 4 of the 2011 NBA Finals, this time Dallas getting over the line by 3 points to square the series at 2 games each. Dirk Nowitzki come up huge again for the Mavs in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with 21 points and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes of game time whilst fighting the flu. But more importantly for Dallas it was the play or their role players that got them the win, Shawn Marion had 16 points and done a huge job defensively holding superstar LeBron James to just 8 points. Tyson Chandler had his best game of the series so far with 13 pts and 16 rebs, and Jason Terry 17 pts and DeShawn Stevenson 11 pts off the bench.

Dwayne Wade was once again Miamis best with 32 points, Chris Bosh added 24 points but no other Heat player hit double figures. LeBron had his lowest scoring playoff game of his career with just 8 points on 3 for 11 shooting and will be looking to game 5 to redeem himself.

Game 5 will be the last game in Dallas on Friday morning 11am AEST before the series moves back to Miami for Game 6 and Game 7 (if required). Dallas will not want to have to go into Miami needing to win 2 games to win the NBA Championship, so this is a must win for them.

I have looked through a few standout stats for each side and a few players that need to lift for their team to take home the Larry O’Brien trophy. For Dallas Nowitzki is averaging 26.5 pts & 10.2 rebs. For the Mavs to win the title I think these numbers need to improve to 30 ppg, 13 rpg. Dallas’s next 2 leading scorers are Jason Terry (15.5pts) and Shawn Marion (15 pts) followed by Tyson Chandler with 10 pts per game. The Mavs need a lift from JJ Barea (5.2 ppg) and Jason Kidd (6 ppg) in the backcourt to carry the scoring load.

The Mavs need a huge lift from Peja Stojakovic if he is going to see anymore courtime these finals. He has only contributed 2 points through the first 4 games in 25.46 minutes gameplay. I would be giving Corey Brewer game time if Peja continues to struggle. Suprisingly for me Jason Kidd is averaging 4 turovers a game and just 6 assists. His experience will see him continue to see big minutes but for me he would want to limit the turnovers.

For Miami I can not fault any part of Dwayne Wade’s game. He is averaging 29.7 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. He is definitely doing his part for the Heat and needs his mate LeBron James to step up his game. James is only averaging 17.2 points after averaging 26.7 during the regular season. James is also turning the ball over too often (3.5 per game). Chris Bosh has been Miami’s second leading scorer averaging 18.2 points per game and Mario Chalmers coming off the bench with 9.5 points, hitting 8 3 pointers in the series so far.

For the Heat to go on and win the NBA Championship they need more from LeBron offensively, I think he needs to attack the basket more instead of settling for jump shots. Role player Mike Miller has just 12 points over the 4 games and needs to improve and Udonis Haslem just 19 points in 27.31 minutes per game.

Expect both teams to come out strong defensively to start game 5 trying to wear one another down. My prediction is that this will be another close game as the last 3 games have been decided by a combined total of just 7 points. LeBron James will be out to prove to everyone that he is still the best player in the NBA and will put in a huge game in Game 5 and with Dwayne Wade in exceptional form I think Miami can knock off the Mavs on their home court for the second time and go back to Miami needing just 1 win to claim the Championship.

Odds: Dallas 1.83 Miami 2.00

My best be if your looking to have a punt on this game is the Miami Heat to win between 1-10 which is paying 2.90 at Sportsbet where they give you a $200 free bet bundle just for signing up. See more info here.

A few other bets that caught my eye as standouts were

Total points under 185 at $1.91

Dallas to lead at Halftime and Miami Fulltime which is paying a very healthy $6.20

Last score of the first half to be a 3 pointer at $4.50

Lasc scoring play to be a free throw at $1.83

We seen a fantastic Game 3 in Dallas Monday afternoon with the Heat taking a 2-1 lead in the best of 7 series with a gutsy 88-86 victory. Dwayne Wade [...]

We seen a fantastic Game 3 in Dallas Monday afternoon with the Heat taking a 2-1 lead in the best of 7 series with a gutsy 88-86 victory. Dwayne Wade was terrific for the Heat scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Chris Bosh added 18 points, Lebron James17 and Mario Chalmers hitting 4 3 pointers off then bench. Dallas relied on superstar Dirk Nowitzki (34 pts, 11 rebs) while the rest of the side struggled offensively shooting just 17 of 49 from the field. As much as he done for his team though Dirk could not hit a jumper to force the game into overtime in the final seconds.

Looking ahead to Game 4 (Wednesday 11am AEST) I predict that the Mavericks ($1.71) will come out firing to try and shut Miami ($2.18) down early. Wade was sensational in the first half in Game 3, keeping the Heat in front almost single handedly. Chris Bosh took a shot to his eye early in Game 3 but was able to play the game out without too much difficulty and will be fine to take the court in his hometown Dallas in Game 4. LeBron James is yet to explode in these Finals with Shawn Marion doing a great job defensively on him, I expect Game 4 is looming as a big game for King James. If the Heat bench can continue to provide strong minutes as Mario Chalmers, Mike Miller & Udonis Haslem have been doing Miami should be fine.

The Maverick now have their backs against the wall and must treat Game 4 as a must win if they want to stay in this series. We know what we will get from Dirk but other players need to take their game to another level. Dallas should welcome back reserve centre Brendon Haywood who missed Game 3 with a hip flex-er to provide backup to starting centre Tyson Chandler. The Mavs 4 other starters only contributed 27 points in Game 3, I predict they will need to have atleatst 40 between the 4 of them to try and get the Mavs over the line. Jason Kidd has had his moments in this Finals series, making some clutch 3′s but also having some bad turnovers which he needs to erase. The main spark Dallas need will be from bench players Jason Terry (15 pts in Game 3), JJ Barea (6 pts) and sharp shooting veteran Peja Stojakovic (2 pts). All 3 players can score a lot of points in a hurry and will need their radar on from downtown where they shot a combined 2 for 9 in Game 3.

At the end of Game 4 I predict the Mavs will have tied the series with a comfortable 10 point victory. Expect them to be energetic from the opening tip and to get hot from downtown. James, Wade & Bosh will combine for over 70 points but I think the crowd and they need to win Game 4 to stay alive will get the Mavs across the line.

Odds: Dallas 1.71 Miami 2.18

See the latest odds here

My best bet for Game 4 is the Dallas Mavericks to lead at Halftime/Fulltime which is paying 2.30 at Sportsbet where they give you a $200 free bet bundle just for signing up. See more info here.

If you have a dew spare dollars in your Sportsbet account you might also consider

Game 1 of the 2011 NBA Finals was won on the defensive end of the court by the Heat, holding the Dallas Mavericks to 84 points, and superstar Dirk Nowitzki to 27 points on 7-18 shooting. Miami got a combined 65 points out of Lebron James (24 pts), Dwayne Wade (22 pts) & Chris Bosh (19 pts), all of which had huge plays in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line.

Game 2 is once again in Miami on Friday at 11am AEST, expect to see another defensive dominated game.

The keys to the Heat win in game one were Defense, 3 point shooting and their Big 3 (Lebron, Wade & bosh). Miami held Dallas to 84 points and 37.3% shooting and outrebounded the Mavs 46-36, including 16-6 on the offensive end. Some of those extra offensive opportunities led to 11 three-pointers. Expect much of the same efforts as the Heat try to go up 2-0 in this best of 7 series.

To push Miami and possibly steal home court advantage before heading home for the next 3 games the Mavericks must find a way to contain James & Wade. They must also shoot the Basketball better and get a bigger contribution from their bench players who have been outstanding in the Playoffs so far but went missing in the second half of game 1. The Heat bench outscored the Mavs’ bench 27-17 and outrebounded them 15-8 en route to Miami’s 92-84 victory. Entering Game 1 the Mavericks bench had averaged 39.4 PPG and Heat bench 18.1 PPG this postseason, this is a stat they need to turn around if they are to have a chance in Game 2.

My prediction is if the Big 3 play the way they did in Game 1 then you can not go past the Miami Heat at home, especially with Dirk having a torn ligament in his left middle finger.

Odds: Miami 1.47 Dallas 2.75

My best be if your looking to have a punt on this game is for the Heat to win the game but the Mavs to be leading at the half, just like it was in game 1 which is paying 5.30 at Sportsbet where they give you a $200 free bet bundle just for signing up. See more info here.

A few other bets well worth having a dip at are:

Dirk Nowitzki to score over 26 points at 1.85

Jason Terry to score over 15 points at 1.85

The last scoring play to be a free throw at 1.83

Dallas to be the first to 20 points at 2.15

LeBron James to have over 8 rebounds at 1.85

Caulfield will come to life with the $100,000 Sir John Monash Stakes on Saturday. It should be an exciting race with a handy field of winter sprinters lined up in the race.

IASbet’s bookmaker Mark Read is tipping the favourite, Gran Sasso, to have a win.

“I Am Invincible ($3.70) will set a keen pace up front and, from his gun draw, Gran Sasso ($3.10) will be right on his hammer,” said Read. “Besides the perfect run, his current form and fitness easily sets the benchmark for this race.”

While confident about the chances of the favourite, Read believes that any boil over will be an in house job, giving Orange County a rough chance, “Orange County ($6.00) has a class edge, goes well when fresh and appreciates give in the track, ticking all the boxes as an appealing each way value in this race. Inversely, I’m opposing Damselfly ($5.00) as I regard his current quote as under the odds.”

I agree with Mark Read and think Gran Sasso is the logical choice for the big race. He’s a fit and in form horse and has responded to Chris Symons every move. With the coverted barrier number 1 he has the box seat and expected to do well.

His last run was on a dead track and showed that he is a true sprinter and took the lead from mid pack just before the striaght where he finished to a fairly comfortable win. I think that he will surprise some people come the Spring Carnival.

Mark Read’s IASbet have a huge range of horse racing markets including the Sir John Monash Stakes. They have a great promotion on at the moment, that if you use the promo code BFF100 when joining and make $50 worth of bets you will get $100 worth of free bets. Checkout their site for more info and the latest odds for the race.

Barry Hall has always said that he would consider a boxing career after football. Now that he has retired from the AFL he may be getting in the ring sooner rather than later.

Big dollars have been waved into Barry’s face to don on the gloves in what would be a boxing promoters dream.

He has had talks with champion boxer and promoter Danny Green which could see him moving to Perth to join the Green team in a boxing career. Green has said that he wants to be Hall’s promoter and that Barry could earn $1 million just for signing with him as a professional boxer.

Green has had numerous sparing sessions with Hall in the past and said that he can take a punch and has great movement around the ring.

Australia’s leading boxing agent Angelo Hyder has been quoted saying that Hall has the potential to fight all over the world and could make up to $10 million per fight. A fair pay rise from the $600,000 per season he was getting at the Swans. Angelo believes that Hall would get a shot at a world title.

There is speculation that a ex NRL footballer now pro boxer John Hopoate could be Barry’s first fight in what would be a massive event for Australian boxing. The AFL v NRL rivalry would draw a massive crowd and millions of people to watch the fight on Pay Per View where the big money is. It would be one of the most anticipated fights in Australian boxing history. Hopoate has made the transition into boxing very well with 11 wins from just 14 fights.

Barry Hall was a amateur boxing state champion as a schoolboy and started boxing when he was 14 before quitting to pursue his AFL career.

IASbet is the place to go for boxing bets. They have markets on all the Australian and International fights including both Danny Green and John Hopoate upcoming fights.

IASbet gives you a $100 free bet when you use the promotional code BFF100 on the joining page and make $50 worth of bets on any sport or horse race. Check IASbet out here.
