Two time Stradbroke Handicap winner Black Piranha is challenging Beaded for favouritism in Saturday’s race after the latter drew badly in barrier 17.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters had switched attention to the Con Karakatsanis trained veteran.
“There was a move for Black Piranha yesterday with him backed in from $7.00 to $6.00 but that has intensified since the final field market went up today and he’s now into $5.50,” said Sullivan.
“Some strong pre-post betting has Beaded still a $5.00 favourite but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them swap in the next day or so.
“Black Piranha has the score on the board and he’s proved before that Eagle Farm suits him perfectly.
One time Stradbroke favourite Sincero has firmed from $9.50 to $9.00 after drawing well in barrier 4.

Doomben 10,000 winner Beaded has been heavily backed again for the Stradbroke at Sportingbet Australia following disappointing performances from other contenders at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Beaded had been heavily backed for the Stradbroke before the win in the 10,000 but punters had come for her again and she was now a clear favourite at $5.00.
“We took a series of big bets at $15 and $13 before her win in the 10,000 and punters have come again this week at $6.00,” Sullivan said.
“We took a bet of $20,000 to $4000 this morning as well as a number of other bets and she will run a clear favourite in the Stradbroke now.
“She is clearly our worst result for the Stradbroke at the moment and I have no doubt punters will keep coming for her even now she is into $5.00.”

Love Conquers All and Black Piranha are on the second line of betting at $6.50 ahead of local Woorim at $8.00 and former favourite Sincero at $9.50.
“There has been some money around for Love Conquers All and Woorim as well but punters think Beaded is clearly the one to beat,” Sullivan said.

Sportingbet are offering a massive $150 bonus bet for new signups who deposit $30 into their new account. There is no better offer around so make sure to take advantage of it at the 2011 Stradbroke Handicap. See more details on this offer at the Sportingbet site here

Victorian filly Heidilicious continues to be the best backed Queensland Oaks contender at Sportingbet Australia. Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said all the money had been for the daughter of Zabeel. “It’s been a low key betting affair so far but we’ve taken several four figure bets on Heidilicious and she’s clearly the best backed of the runners,” said Sullivan.

“She did look unlucky last start and if Winks can get her across from a tricky barrier she does look hard to beat.” Sullivan said there had been very little interest in the favourite Scarlett Lady. “It is a race that has thrown up a few outsiders in recent times and punters are betting around the favourite early,” Sullivan said. “But I am sure if she drifts from the present $3.60 quote we will see the money come.”

Winter Cup -  Skyerush should’ve finished much closer last start after being baulked at a crucial stage. She’s suited with the wet conditions and will secure a soft on pace run from her good draw. Indikator is another who loves the wet and he looms as the main danger in a very tricky race.

Queensland Oaks – Heidilicious put in a super effort last start after rearing at the start and being blocked for a run to be only beaten three lengths. The step up to 2400m looks ideal & she can run over the top of these at nice odds. Fibrillation looks the danger after scoring narrowly last start beating The Verminator (who won last week) & her run in the AJC Oaks showed that the distance holds no concerns.

QTC Cup – Budding star Sincero looks the day’s best bet. He’s been toying with his rivals recently and despite the class rise and as long as Tim Clark can get into the clear from his inside gate he will justify his Stradbroke favourtism. King Pulse appears to be over the niggling injuries that have been worrying him & is a knockout chance a double figure odds.

Paul’s Top Tips
Qld Oaks -  Heidilicious put up a top effort last start after missing the start & being blocked for a run. Can atone here in a tough affair.
Best Bet – Eagle Farm Race 4 #3 Benfica. Dominant win when resuming & gets the gun run from his good draw.Should win.
Best Value – Rosehill Race 5 #6 Skyerush. Should’ve finished much closer last start after some pilot error. Suited by the wet & drawn to get a soft on pace run.
Best Backed -  Eagle Farm 2 #4 Glass Harmonium. Very well backed from $3.50 into $2.80
Lay of the day – Eagle Farm Race 2 # 1 Scenic Shot. Won by default last start after not going around a runner. I can’t see him winning this.

Sportingbet Australia has posted a head to head market for Spring’s Patinack Farm Classic putting Australia’s star, Black Caviar against Singapore champion, Rocket Man.

Black Caviar has been posted as a $1.55 favourite with Rocket Man a distinct outsider at $2.45 despite showing similar dominance to the undefeated mare in his win in the Group 1 KrisFlyer Sprint in Singapore on Sunday.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Black Caviar’s undefeated record would guarantee punters would continue to put the big money on her.

“There is no doubt Rocket Man is a very very good horse but I think she is in a league all of her own,” Sullivan said.
“Punters will be excited by the odds on offer for Black Caviar as they are significantly longer than anything we have seen recently.
“I am sure all those punters who have filled their pockets will come for her again even against Rocket Man.”

Sullivan said the form around Black Caviar looked a lot stronger than the races Rocket Man had been contesting.

“Her rating is so high due to the quality of fields she has beaten including the likes of Hay List,” he said.
“Rocket Man may have won with similar ease in Singapore but really he beat a field of ageing sprinters and I don’t think that form is anywhere near as strong.”

Online bookmaker Sportsbet has champion mare Black Caviar at just $1.16 to keep her unbeaten record intact in this Saturday’s BTC Cup – her first race start in Queensland.

Hay List heads the rest of the field at $5.50, from Melito at $21 and Buffering at $26.

“She’s a once-in-a-generation freak of nature and there seems to be no chink in her armour,” Sportsbet’s Haydn Lane said.
“Hay List showed in the All Aged Stakes that he can still destroy fields when Black Caviar is not present, but in our opinion something would have to go terribly wrong for the mare to be beaten on Saturday.
“It’s expected the big punters will come to play again, including one who had $1.65 million in total on her in the T.J. Smith Stakes.”

Black Caviar is $1.40 with Sportsbet to remain undefeated in 2011, and just $1.15 to be crowned Australian Racehorse Of The Year, from So You Think at $3.80.

If you haven’t yet got a Sportsbet account there has been no better time to join. Currently Sportsbet are offering new customers a $200 bet bundle to get started. See the Sportsbet site here for more info on this offer.

Australian punters have predicted the Queen will wear a yellow hat to Royal Wedding, in just one of a variety of novelty markets available with online bookmaker sportsbet.
“We’ve taken literally thousands of bets on the Royal Wedding, with the vast majority between $1 to $10 from punters looking to have an extra interest in the telecast,” sportsbet’s Haydn Lane said.
Below is a brief description of the markets, with a quote from sportsbet’s Haydn Lane under each.

Colour of Queen’s Hat
“Pastels have been popular with punters for the colour of the Queen’s hat, however, yellow is the clear favourite and has firmed from $7 into just $2.75. Grey has been unwanted and has drifted from $6 out to $26.”

Length of Kate’s train

“A train of 2.01 metres to 5 metres has been backed off the map from $2.25 to $1.33. This option has attracted the biggest bet to date with sportsbet on the Royal Wedding – $2000 at odds of $1.91.”

Colour of Kate’s dress

“Ivory has been the hot favourite since betting opened with just $1.67 on offer.”

Year of first child?
“2012 has been easily the best-backed year for the couple’s first child at $2.25 from punters who think William and Kate won’t waste too much time!”

Name of first child?

“In a wide open market, the best-backed baby names to date have been ‘Diana’ at $9 for a girl and ‘George’ and ‘Henry’ for a boy at $11 each. Not surprisingly, we’ve taken no bets on ‘Fergie’ at $251!”

Rain on the wedding day
Yes      $2.50 into $1.30
No        $1.50 out to $3.20

“The weather forecast was looking great until a few days ago. It now appears there’s a good chance of rain on the day.”

Will Kate use the word ‘obey’ in her vows (market closed)
“$2 was on offer on Kate not using the word ‘obey’ in her vows. We then took a string of bets in quick succession on this option shortly after it was announced that Kate would not say ‘obey’ from punters who heard the announcement before we did!”

Sportsbet Tip of the Royal Wedding

Stick with what you know. It is very likely to rain on the wedding day so $1.30 isn’t bad odds. Better than interest in the bank! See the latest odds for this market here.

Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury and Bulldog skipper Matthew Boyd are this week’s big Brownlow Medal movers at Sportingbet Australia following respective Best on Ground performances on Anzac Day.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters were keen on Pendlebury winning three major medals in a row.

“The phone has been running hot for Pendlebury since the odds went back up despite his odds being slashed from $15 to $10 following Monday’s game,” said Sullivan.
“Out of the last four major medals the Brownlow is all that’s eluded him with two Anzac Medals  and a Norm Smith, as well as a Premiership medallion, already sitting in his trophy cabinet.”
While Pendlebury had been well backed, Boyd, who firmed from $17 to $13, could be the one that’s got away from punters according to Sullivan.
“The punters have not come for Boyd at any stage this season,” Sullivan said.
“But you’d think 45 touches would be enough to get him three votes despite his team losing on Monday.
“He did run equal sixth with 20 votes last season and he doesn’t have to compete for votes with quite the same quality that Pendlebury has to.”

Pendlebury’s team mate Dane Swan is the reigning Brownlow favourite at $5.50 followed by dual winner Chris Judd at $6.50.
