It is the weekend of the local derbies in the soccer world with Melbourne, Liverpool, Madrid and North London all preparing to find out with club will have bragging rights for the next few months. These matches are often high in intensity and full of blood and thunders and almost guarantee goals.
With guaranteed goals usually comes a winner, so at Sportsbetblog.com.au we thought that this would be a perfect chance to take advantage of Sportsbet’s free bet and four leg multi offer, if one leg fails you get your money back.
So lets have a look at the matches and see which teams you should use make up your multi bet.
Liverpool Vs Everton
There is no doubt that Liverpool head in to this tie as overwhelming favourites having lost just once in their last 19 matches. But you can never write Everton off when it comes to playing their local rivals. The toffees always seem to raise their game when the reds come to town. So with home advantage and Sportsbet paying $3.20 you could well be tempted to throw them in to you multi bet, but I just don’t think it is wise. Like I said Liverpool are the form team and have looked back to their sparkling best in recent weeks. In Coutinho they have one of the form players in the league and I think he will be the man to get them over the line.
Tottenham Vs Arsenal
Similar to the Merseyside Derby this match sees the away team go in to the tie as favourites. But unlike the Merseyside Derby the home team have showed on more than one occasion that they can mix it with the best in the league. Tottenham recently destroyed top of the table Chelsea 5-2 and have a knack of scoring late winners that suggests the squad are more than up for any fight.
Melbourne Victory Vs Melbourne City
We have already discussed how we feel the magical Melbourne derby will fall. It is all about how well Victory’s wobbly defence will hold up to the aerial threat and dead ball dangers that City hold. We just feel that going forward Victory have too much fire power for this encounter and the blues will exact revenge for there 1-0 defeat against City back in December.
The Madrid derby isn’t as clear cut as many would have you think. Real may have all of the superstars and may top La Liga but it is Atletico that seem to hold the upper hand in their recent encounters. Diego Simeone’s men knocked there more illustrious rivals out of the Spanish Cup just a few weeks ago and are on an unbeaten derby run of five matches. I just feel that this run can’t continue and with Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the starting line up I feel it is Real that will come out on top in this one.
