This Sunday will play witness to the third occasion on which Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have battled it out for the Australian Open title with Serbian World No 1 Djokovic prevailing in the previous two show piece events. Novak has also never lost an Australian Open final and sportsbetting have him as the $1.44 favourite.
But things in tennis are never that simple. Both players have been in tremendous form in Melbourne and over came tough Semi Final matches against Stan Wawrika and Thomas Berdych respectively. But for me it’s Andy Murray that looks most dangerous. The Scotsman looks back to the form that saw him take out titles at both Wimbledon and the US Open. He has struggled in recent times with a back injury that restricted his movement around the court but he has started 2015 on fire.
Murray looks aggressive, agile and as he proved in the tricky tie against Nick Kyrgios, that he can step up when the pressure is on. Don’t get me wrong Djokovic has been electric but for four sets against 2014 Champion Wawrinka he was matched shot for shot and it seemed that he wouldn’t be able to shake the Swiss star. There was something slightly off about his game, and as Sydney Morning Herald journalist, Jake Nial, reported, this could be the window that a fired up Murray needs.
Djokovic’s victory wasn’t entirely convincing, and the Murray camp — now counting coach Amelie Mauresmo — will hold considerable hope of besting the best, said Nial.
For me it’s Murray all the way and at $2.87 he is well worth a punt with your exclusive free bet from sportsbetting.
