newcastle_jetsWith round 1 of the new 2009 Hyundai A-League season out of the way we can now begin to take a look into round 2.

As a surprise for the Hyundai ALeague season opener, defending champions Melbourne made a very poor and sluggish start and were surprisingly defeated 2-0 by the Central Coast.

Adelaide United was very happy with the start to the new season after a convincing 1-0 victory over Perth Glory. Adelaide was able to convert from a penalty in the 31st minute and then hold off Perth Glory to take a win to start their 09/10 campaign.

Newcomers, North Queensland Fury, will be a little disappointed with their start to the season after being defeated 2-3 by Sydney FC on Saturday night.

The second newcomer, Gold Coast United, has made a dream start to their Hyundai A-League campaign with 3-1 victory over rivals, Brisbane Roar. Jason Culina also scored in his Hyundai A-League debut.

The final game of the opening round saw the Newcastle Jets take a gutsy win over Wellington Phoenix, 3-2.

My tips for round 2 are as follows.

Friday 14th August @ 8pm

Central Coast Mariners FC vs. Newcastle Jets FC

After the excellent start made by the Central Coast in round 1, I would expect them to be able to dismantle Newcastle in much the same fashion. The match will be played at Bluetongue Stadium on the Central Coast.

My Tip – Central Coast Mariners with odds of $1.90 @ SportsAlive by 2 goals. Final Score 3-1.

Saturday 15th August @ 5.30pm

Gold Coast United vs. North Queensland Fury

This match on Saturday afternoon looks like it could possibly be a good old football blowout. This is a battle between the two new sides in the Hyundai A-League and will be played at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast. My bet is on a second Gold Coast United Victory.

My Tip – Gold Coast United ($1.50 @ SportsAlive) by 3 goals. Final Score 4-1.

Saturday 15th August @ 7.30pm

Melbourne Victory FC vs. Brisbane Roar FC

After a poor start to their 09/10 campaign, Melbourne will be looking to regain lost ground and it is because of this that I am predicting a reverse of last weeks’ match. This is bound to be a great game on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne.

My Tip – Melbourne Victory ($2 @ SportsAlive) by 2 goals. Final Score 2-0.

Sunday 16th August @ 5pm

Wellington Phoenix FC vs. Perth Glory FC

After both teams suffered a loss in the first round and with neither of them looking really threatening, my tip for this match to be played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington is a draw.

My Tip – Draw ($3.25 @ SportsAlive). Final Score 1-1.

Sunday 16th August @ 5pm

Sydney FC vs. Adelaide United FC

Both teams were able to obtain victory last weekend and this made it a hard choice for picking the winner in this round two clash. For this match at the Sydney Football Stadium I had to go with my gut instinct and put my money on Sydney FC to win.

I’m Tipping – Sydney FC ($2 @ SportsAlive) by 1 goal. Final Score 2-1.

whobegotyouSaturday’s J.J Liston Stakes is sure to be closely watched by many punters, especially those keen on Cox Plate favourite Whobegotyou. The star three year old is the big name heading into the race, but he is not without competition. 7 year old Caufield Cup winner Master O’Reilly has been nominated, and so has the unbeaten Typhoon Tracy both with some great racing behind them.

New Zealand horses dominate the field, with 10 of the 23 entries coming from across the Tasman. Master O’Reilly, Zarita and Orange County head the Kiwi attack, with other group 1 winners Mr. Baritone and Ista Kareem not far behind.

But the Australian horses are not without hope. The brilliant Whobegotyou looks our best chance, but a change of jockey may prove costly. Although having Damien Oliver on board is far from a disadvantage, he has only ridden the star once, and punters would have been feeling a lot more confident if Michael Rodd was still riding.

Another group 1 winner to look out for is Gallica. While recent experiments over a longer distance have failed, the mare has had excellent form over 1600m races, which will hopefully transfer to Saturday’s 1400m race.

The New Zealand mare Zarita has not won a race since April 2008 and although she has been unlucky is probably not worth the risk if she gets a run. Master O’Reilly also looks past his use-by-date, and has not won below 1700m.

One to watch for is Fifth Avenue Lady. The 5 year old mare has placed in her past 6 starts, and won 3 of them, including the group 3 Patinack Farm Stakes. She is an expert over middle distance races such as this.
Shadowed by the recent retirement of his brother, Takeover Target, 4 year old Predatory Pricer will be looking to make a few headlines of his own. While he has only won three races, and none since September 2008, Predatory Pricer has impressed in both the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the AJC Australian Derby.

I think Whobegotyou will be too strong, but Gallica and Fifth Avenue Lady will be two to watch out for and worth a place bet. Checkout Australia’s leading horse racing bookmaker IASbet for the latest odd for the big race.

My Tips for the 2009 J.J Liston Stakes

15- Whobegotyou
20- Fifth Avenue Lady
4- Orange County
21- Gallica

Round 20′s tips are tough this round with many very important games that will impact who is in the top 8 this year. None more so than the Port V Carlton clash which could see the loser miss a spot in the finals for 2009.

The AFL must have gotten through to some of the bottom of the ladder teams about the whole “tanking” issue with both West Coast and Freo having classy wins last weekend which has mixed things up for this round and the final games of the season.

If your looking at placing a few bets on the footy IASbet is the place to go. If you use the promo code SBLOG100 when joining and bet $50 or more they will give you a $100 free bet. Well worth a look with the finals coming up next month. Checkout their site for more info on this offer.

Hawthorn V Adelaide Friday Night at the MCG

Tip: Hawthorn

The Hawks keep disappointing with  three losses in as many weeks but other results have gone their way and they still have a sniff for a chance to defend their Premiership in the finals this year. This is their final chance. They must beat the Crows this weekend and I think they will come out firing at the MCG and take the win. The bookies don’t think they can and Sportsbet have priced the Hawks at $2.07 to the Crows $1.76.

Alot will depend on the inclusions for the Crows. Brett Burton rates himself a 50-50 chance to play and both Patrick Danger Field and David Mackay will be tested later in the week.

Bet of the match: Hawks to win between 1-19 points with odds of $4.50

Richmond V Collingwood Saturday at the MCG

Tip: Collingwood

Collingwood have proven that they are the 3rd best team going around with a win over the Crows at AAMI stadium last week. The Pies are playing some good football at the right time of the season and I can’t see Richmond getting in the road. Collingwood will be out to lock-in the 3rd spot on the ladder to avoid St Kilda in the first week of the finals. With a couple of tougher games ahead they need to have a comfortable win this weekend

Bet of the match: Collingwood 1-39 points paying $2.50

West Coast V North Melbourne Saturday at Subiaco Oval

Tip: West Coast

Well, who would have thought West Coast would have had any chance last week against the Dogs. The Eagles youth looked much more classy than their opposition and have now demanded the respect from the teams above them. Andrew Embley had his best game of the season and a probable 3 Brownlow votes and should do well again in front of his home crowd.

Daniel Wells is a chance to return to the senior list for the Roos with a good effort in the seconds last weekend which will make it an interesting game in the midfield. This is where the game will be won and my prediction is West Coast to win by 24 points.

Bet of the match: West Coast half time-Full time double at $1.60

Brisbane V Western Bulldogs Saturday Night at the Gabba

Tip: Brisbane

This is one of the biggest matches in round twenty that will shape the finals series. The winner will move into 4th position and a double chance in the finals with just two games to go. The Bulldogs have had a horror run recently with only 2 wins out of their last 5 games. To continue their woes important midfielder Daniel Cross is out that will see the Dogs slide down the ladder even more.

The Bulldogs lack key players at both ends of the ground with only Brian Lake standing true to his defensive position. This is where it will come undone, Brisbane have to many targets up forward that will see them kick a winning score.

Bet of the match: Brisbane for the straight win with odds of $1.78

Sydney V Geelong Saturday Night at ANZ Stadium

Tip: Geelong

An important game for both clubs with Sydney clinging onto finals hopes and Geelong needing to get into form before the finals with some unexpected losses recently. In the end the Cats should get the points at ANZ stadium but not without a fight.

Geelong’s injury worries continue into this game with Mathew Stokes (quad) and Max Rooke (knee) likely to miss.

Harry Taylor and Steve Johnson should be okay to play this weekend and the inclusion of Matthew Scarlett in the backline should see Geelong home.

Bet of the match: Geelong between 1-39 points paying $2.25

Melbourne V Fremantle Sunday at the MCG

Tip: Fremantle

The battle of the cellar dwellers. Demons will be trying many different things this weekend to keep the prospects of a priority draft pick as they sit on the bottom with 3 wins. Freo are now two games clear of the dreaded bottom of the ladder with 5 wins will be looking to show the footy world what their youth is capable of after a big win over Port last week. Players like Chris Mayne, Greg Broughton and Garrick Ibbotson are all shining lights for the Dockers and should continue their good form into this game.

Melbourne will be without star Cameron Bruce for the game after a season ending wrist injury last week.

Bet of the match: Fremantle to win paying $1.74

Port Adelaide V Carlton Sunday at AAMI Stadium

Tip: Port Adelaide

This weeks game of the round will change the outlook of both teams. A win here will all but insure a finals spot making for a very high pressure game. Power will need to bounce back after a shocking 42 point loss to Freo last week that continued their seventh consecutive loss on the road.

Port play AAMI stadium pretty well and should put it up to the Blues who are coming off a high after comfortable beating Geelong last week. Warren Tredrea is the key to the match for Port. He is showing fair form at the moment and if he can fire Port should win. I’m tipping Port to win by around 24 points.

Bet of the match: Go with Port to win under 39 points with odds of $2.65

Essendon V St Kilda Sunday Afternoon at Etihad Stadium

Tip: St Kilda

When will the unbeaten run end for St Kilda? Not this weekend. The Saints will get back alot of their top players and will be a dominate force. St Kilda broke two records last weekend that would scare any team. They made the most tackles in a game (115) and are the first team to win in every Australian state in one year.

St Kilda are playing for another record this weekend and if they win they will equal the longest winning streak in the AFL. Funnily enough Essendon currently holds the record with their famous run in the year 2000 with 20 wins in a row. The Saints are unstoppable at Etihad Stadium and have plenty of depth in their list, a near perfect combination.

Essendon will gain Andrew Welsh and Andrew Lovett back in the team but again will be without captain Matthew Lloyd and midfielder Jason Winderlich. It will be a very tough day at the office for the Dons.

My prediction is Saints by 30 points.

Bet of the match: Saints to be first team to score paying $1.63

Flemington_RacecourseThe $150,000 Aurie’s star Handicap is a very important horse race coming upto the spring carnival. Alot of the top spring runners are starting to come out of their break and events like the Auries Star stakes is a great opportunity for them to start their preparation.

With a cracking field of Spring Carnival contenders on show in the Aurie’s Star Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, IASbet bookmaker Mark Read is tipping in form sprinter Gran Sasso to be first past the post.

Mark Read is a massive horse racing fanatic and shares with SportsbetBlog his thoughts on major races each week.

“Gran Sasso ($2.70) is a proven straight course specialist, and comes into this race at the peak of his preparation,” said Read. “He was unlucky not to win last start, and has a level of class that this field will find difficult to match.”

According to the market, boom youngster Mic Mac ($2.70) is the horse to beat, however Read reveals that his price is undervalued, whilst also dismissing the chances of crowd hero El Segundo.

“El Segundo ($17.00) will need a lot of pace early up front to finish amongst the placings, let alone win here, and, given the weight he has to carry, I suggest holding out until later in his preparation.”

Looking at Gran Sasso’s form he has had a great leadup to the race winning three of his last four outings. He loves the 1200 meter races and once he hits the front is very hard to pull back, he will be the one to beat.

There will be some great racing in Saturday’s big race with some classy horses that could shape the Spring Carnival over the next few months.

Mark Read’s IASbet has given SportbetBlog readers a special free bet offer thats hard to refuse. Simply use the promo code SBLOG100 when joinging IASbet. Then make $50 worth of bets and your account will be credited with a $100 free bet. Get more info about this great offer here.

kyleThere has been big betting interest in Ex Australian Idol judge Kyle Sandilands job replacement with some huge betting in the past week with a result nearing.

It is the latest market to open at SportingBet after Kyle Sandilands was given the sack over a radio prank gone wrong earlier this week.

SportingBet has placed former Australian Idol host James Mathison as favourite ($2.25) to take the job. I think this would be a good move for Channel 10 to try and boost viewer ratings which have been on the decline in recent years and to get back one of the shows familiar faces. Although he would slip straight back into the show I think Idol should look at getting a new face to freshen things up a little.

Another chance for the job is Tina Arena ($3.50). The Australian singing star has appeared on Australian Idol before and has judged on other performance TV shows. The job would be a perfect fit for Tina and would attract her fans to the show.

My tip for the big job is Paul McDermott. (Pictured Below)

The host of Channel 10′s popular TV show Good News Week Paul McDermott would be a breath of fresh air to the despised  “third judges seat”. Kyles position has always been held by outspoken males and I think McDermott has what it takes to fill Kyles shoes. He has the respect from the TV world and viewers alike and if given the position the Channel 10 contracted star would be able to add a new dimension to the show, something Idol needs. SportingBet has plenty of value for him at $10 and well worth a bet.

SportingBet is the place to go for all novelty betting. Currently they are taking bets on Miss Universe, Dancing With The Stars and the 2009 Emmy Awards and continue to offer strange betting options all the time.

You can get a free bet to put on the Idol job or any other betting market just for joining Sportingbet through SportsbetBlog today. Simply deposit $30 or more and your account will be credited with a $100 bet, simple as that!

Paul_McDermottHere’s the odds for all the Job candidates.

James Mathison 2.25
Tina Arena 3.50
Ruby Rose 6.50
Guy Sebastian 6.50
Danni Minogue 7.50
Rikki-Lee Coulter 8.50
Kate Ceberano 9.00
Paul McDermott 10.00
Shannon Noll 11.00
Brian McFadden 12.00
Mark Holden 14.00
David Reyne 17.00
Rob Mills 21.00
Ugly Phil ONeil    21.00
Molly Meldrum 26.00
Natalie Bassingthwaighte 34.00
Ross Wilson 41.00
Simon Cowell 41.00

Paula Abdul 101.00

Round 21 of the NRL championship saw some interesting matches to say the least.

St. George-Illawarra have proudly stood up and shown that they have what it takes to win the premiership after a tidy 14 point (26-12) victory over the Melbourne Storm. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Manu has broken his leg in 2 places.

The Cowboys managed to bring an end to the Titans home ground winning streak with a very nice 16 point win (18-34). To add injury to insult, Titans midfielder Brett Delaney tore a hamstring during the loss and will spend 4 – 6 weeks on the sidelines.

Brisbane were handed a massive (there biggest in the NRL) defeat against the Canberra Raiders. The final score ended at (56-0) and Brisbane has now conceded over 300 points in their last 8 games.

Newcastle’s top eight chances have grown slimmer after a 12 point loss (18-30) to the Sydney Roosters. Meanwhile, the Panthers and Warriors have shared the points after a thrilling 32-32 draw.

Also, the Eels quite easily managed to defeat the Sharks with a 30-0 win and the Bulldogs were able to recover from a poor start to take the points against the Rabbitohs (18-26).

Monday night saw the final game for round 21 and it was a thriller to say the least. In the end however, it was the Tigers who were able to get up over Manly for a 1 point victory (19-18).

My Round 22 tips are as follows.

Friday August 7th @ 7.35pm

Melbourne Storm vs. North Queensland Cowboys

Although Melbourne took a loss last weekend, I believe that they will have no trouble getting up over the North Queensland Cowboys in this Friday night clash. The match is to be played at Olympic Park, Melbourne.

My Prediction – Melbourne Storm with odds of $1.47 @ CentreBet.

Friday August 7th @ 7.35pm

Penrith Panthers vs. St. George-Illawarra

After the nice win in round 21 and the run of form I think it would foolish to go against St. George-Illawarra here. This is another game to be played on Friday night. Penrith will definitely have a challenge on their hands here. The match is to be played at CUA Stadium, Penrith

My Tip – St. George-Illawarra ($1.40 @ CentreBet) by 15+ points.

Saturday August 8th @ 5.30pm

Manly Sea Eagles vs. South Sydney

I believe that after the narrow loss last week that Manly will be determined to get up here. If current form is anything to go by, then I really believe that the Rabbitohs have very little chance of winning this one at Brookvale Oval.

My Tip – Manly ($1.30 @ CentreBet) by 15+ points.

Saturday August 8th @ 7.30pm

Bulldogs vs. Canberra Raiders

This match up to be played at ANZ Stadium will more than likely be one sided as the Bulldogs will be looking to finish the Raider off nice and early. I truly cannot see a Canberra victory in this one.

My Tip – Bulldogs ($1.30 @ CentreBet) by 12+ points.

Sunday August 9th @ 2pm

New Zealand Warriors vs. Gold Coast Titans

In my opinion, this will probably be one of the closer matches in round 22. Although the Titans are the favourites, I would not be surprised if the Warriors were able to get up and win. That said I would bet against the Titans.

My Tip – Gold Coast Titans ($1.57 @ CentreBet) by 6-12 points.

Sunday August 9th @ 2pm

Sydney Roosters vs. West Tigers

For this match up to be played at Sydney Football Stadium, i really could not go past the West Tigers. After the way that they were able to get up in last week’s thriller, I would not hesitate to tip them over the Roosters.

My Tip – West Tigers ($1.48 @ CentreBet) by 12-18 points.

Sunday August 9th @ 3pm

Parramatta Eels vs. Newcastle Knights

With the possibility of a close game, this match that will be played in Parramatta on Sunday afternoon could very well turn into a thriller. The Eels had a good win last week; meanwhile, the Knights will be fighting hard for a chance of a top eight finish.

My Tip – Parramatta ($1.50 @ CentreBet) by 6-12 points.

Monday August 10th @ 7pm

Brisbane Broncos vs. Cronulla Sharks

Quite frankly I would be surprised if Cronulla are even able to score in this game, let alone win. The Broncos are by the favourites to take the points from this came and I would not put money against it.  The game will be played on Monday Night at Suncorp Stadium.

My Tip – Brisbane Broncos ($1.24 @ CentreBet) by at least 15.

AFL

Update: See Our Round 19 2010 tips here

Round 19 bring along a few tricky footy tips that could go either way.

The hardest game to pick is the Richmond V Sydney game at the MCG, both teams are coming off good form which makes for great footy. Another great football game will be Adelaide V Collingwood. Can the Pies win on the road or will the Crows bounce back with a win at home.

Carlton V Geelong Friday Night at the MCG

Tip: Geelong

The Cats have looked a little out of touch in the past few weeks but have had enough class to get over the line against top sides. They shouldn’t have a problem in round nineteen although Mark Thompson has said that Matthew Scarlett, Harry Taylor and Tom Lonergan aren’t certainties to return to the side as they recover from slight injuries. Paul Chapman will be sidelined with a hamstring problem continuing the Cats injury woes.

Nick Stevens will be one to watch and has proven his spot in the team after a stint on the sidelines. He should continue to do well for the Blues.

Take Geelong between 1-39. 2.25 at Sportsbet

Western Bulldogs V West Coast Saturday at Etihad Stadium

Tip: Western Bulldogs

Sportsbet expect the Doggies ($1.05) to win against the Eagles ($10.00) and get some breathing space from the growing pack below with the Pies, Lions and Crows all in striking distance of their 3rd spot. They are playing great team footy at the moment need a big percentage booster this weekend with some very tough matches for their final three games of the season in the Cats, Lions and Pies.

40+ would be a good bet here with the odds of 1.50 with Sportsbet

Hawthorn V St Kilda at Aurora Stadium

Tip: St Kilda

This could turn out to be an interesting game in Tazzie. The Saints were lucky to get over the line last week in a 1 point thriller keeping they unbeaten record intact. They will be looking to get back the dominance they held for much of the first half of the season but with all the outs it may be a big ask. Riewoldt, Hayes, Goddard, Montagna and Baker all not taking the field on Sunday.

Its D-day for the Hawks, if they lose this weekend it will make it very tough for them to make the finals this year. They were disappointing last week and I can’t see them overcoming the St Kilda mid field but with all the St Kilda outs they are a very good chance.

I like the Saints between 1-39. The weather can play havoc in Tazzie and may be a low scoring game.

Essendon V Brisbane Saturday Night at the MCG

Tip: Brisbane

Essendon who are now out of the top 8 desperately need a win to get their season back on track. They expect live wire Alwyn Davey and Mark McVeigh to return to the Essendon side giving them some much needed options around the ground.

With Matthew Lloyd and midfielder Jason Winderlich are likely to be out with injuries. It will make life much easier for Brisbane and my prediction is they should get home comfortably.

Take Brisbane for a straight out win here at around 1.65

Adelaide V Collingwood Saturday Night at AAMI Stadium
Tip: Collingwood

This should be a stellar game with both teams showing recent good form and fighting over the 4th spot on the ladder. Adelaide showed great fight in Geelong last week that just saw them miss out on a win, if they can replicate that effort it will see them lead alot of the game. Although Sportsbet have the Crows as $1.77 favourite I think the Pies have what it takes to get a win here. All the Collingwood big names are firing including Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Alan Didak and Leon Davis which should see them get over the line.

There’s good value for the Pies by under 19. Its paying 4.35 and worth a few dollars.

North Melbourne V Melbourne Sunday at Etihad Stadium

Tip: North Melbourne

With Melbourne still with the priority draft pick window open you cant go past the Roos. Melbourne continue to experiment with players in different positions around the ground causing errors and opposition goals. Not a recipe for a winning team.

My prediction is the Kangaroos by 30 points and will pay 4.35 for between 20-39 points.

Richmond V Sydney, Sunday at the MCG

Tip: Sydney

This will be a huge day for the Swans as a club with Michael O’Loughlin becoming the first Sydney Swans player to play 300 games. Sydney had one of their games of the season with a gallant effort against the league leaders St Kilda last weekend that just saw them fall short by 1 point.

The whole O’Loughlin factor on Saturday will see his side get him the win. Jesse White continues to show promise with 3 goals last weekend and will be another one to watch.

Surprisingly the bookies have Richmond as Favourite so there plenty of value for the Swans. I’m taking Sydney in the Half time-Full Time Double paying 2.75 at Sportsbet.

Fremantle V Port Adelaide Sunday at Subiaco Oval

Tip: Port Adelaide

With Port now in the coveted 8th spot they have Essendon and the Hawks chewing at their ankles for their position. Both teams have a higher percentage than Port so they have everything to play for as they get a hit at a bottom side.

They shouldn’t have much trouble. Freo lack the confidence to take the risks needed with the ball that wins games and will struggle to find the space to move the ball freely. 32 gamer Robert Gray is having a good year up forward with 4 goals last weekend increasing his goals to 26 this year.

I see Port Adelaide by under 19 points as the best be here paying 4.24

You can get a $50 free bet on any of these tips just for joining Sportsbet through SportsbetBlog. You also get your first deposit doubled up to $100 if you decide to continue to use Sportsbet.

hyundai-aleague1With round 1 of the new 2009 season about to kick off, things are really beginning to heat up for all involved in the A-League. According to Ben Buckley, the Football Federation Australia CEO, “The Hyundai A-League is bigger and better than ever.”

The start of the new season also sees an expansion in the A-League with the inclusion of 2 new teams, Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury. With the inclusion of these 2 new teams the A-League has grown to become a 10 team competition in only its fifth year.

The Hyundai A-League round one kicks off with the 2009 Grand Final winners, Melbourne Victory taking on the Central Coast Mariners at Eithiad Stadium on Thursday. Then on Friday, last year’s second place finishers, Adelaide United will face a revamped Perth Glory side.

This great opening to the season will be backed up by soccer matches on Saturday between new side North Queensland Fury and Sydney FC and then later that night we have Brisbane Roar up against the second new team Gold Coast United. Sunday will see the final match of the first round played between the Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix.

Compared to last season, there will be six more rounds of football in the home and away season. This comes to a total of 142 matches including a Top 6 Finals Series.

The season will end on the 14th of February 2010 and will be topped off with the Hyundai A-League Grand Final on Saturday the 20th March 2010.

My thoughts and tips for the first round are as follows.

Thursday 6th August @ 8pm

Melbourne Victory FC vs. Central Coast Mariners FC

This is set to be a possible blowout with reigning premiers Melbourne Victory taking on the Central Coast Mariners at Eithiad Stadium, Melbourne. The Melbourne Victory are $1.58 favourites and I would not bet against them in this opening round. A draw is paying $3.60 @ IASBet.com.au.

My Tip – Melbourne Victory ($1.58 @ IASBet) by 3 goals. Final Score 4-1.

Friday 7th August @ 7.30pm

Adelaide United FC vs. Perth Glory FC

The match up here between 2009 runner-ups Adelaide United and Perth Glory could turn into a thriller at Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide. Adelaide United are the favourites to win, but not by much paying $2.15 @ IASBet. Meanwhile, Perth Glory are paying the same as a draw. $3.25 @ IASBet.

My Tip – Adelaide United by 1 goal. Final Score 1-0.

Saturday 8th August @ 5.30pm

North Queensland Fury vs. Sydney FC

This could possibly be another close game as newcomers North Queensland ($3.25 @ IASBet.com.au) take on Sydney FC at Dairy Farmers Stadium. Sydney FC are the clear favourites with odds of $2.15 @ IASBet.com.au. However, the newcomers may very well have what it takes to win and they will be pushing to get there A-League season off to a good start.

My Tip – Draw ($3.25 @ IASBet.com.au). Final Score 2-2.

Saturday 8th August @ 7.30pm

Brisbane Roar FC vs. Gold Coast United

The second football game to be played on Saturday night is Brisbane Roar ($2.50 @ IASBet.com.au) vs. Gold Coast United ($2.60 @ IASBet.com.au) at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. Looking at being a very close game, newcomers Gold Coast United will be striving to get on the board early and produce win.

My Tip – Draw ($3.25 @ IASBet.com.au). Final Score 1-1.

Sunday 9th August @ 3pm

Newcastle Jets FC vs. Wellington Phoenix FC

The final game for the round to be played Energy Australia Stadium, Newcastle. My prediction here, I cannot see anything here but a win for the Newcastle Jets ($1.90 @ IASBet.com.au). Wellington Phoenix ($3.80 @ IASBet.com.au) will be lucky if they even have a chance of winning after half time.

My Tip – Newcastle Jets by 3 goals. Final Score 3-0.
